Elle utilisera \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts un nom d&#8217;emprunt masculin. Elle obtient en 1815 le grand prix des sciences math\u00e9matiques et a donn\u00e9 son nom \u00e0 un th\u00e9or\u00e8me dans le cadre de ses travaux sur la d\u00e9monstration du dernier th\u00e9or\u00e8me de Fermat.
